FTMO payout rules: 2-Step vs 1-Step vs Instant vs Futures compared
The short answer
FTMO pays 90% of simulated profit on 1-Step, Instant and Futures; 2-Step starts at 80% and rises to 90% via the Scaling Plan or Prime. CFD Rewards can be claimed from the 14th day after the first trade. Futures Sim-Funded pays per 4-day cycle on Growth (50% of profit, $2,500 cap on 50K) or 5-day cycle on Pro (100%, $5,000 cap).
Side-by-side
| Rule | 2-Step FTMO Account | 1-Step FTMO Account | Instant Account | Futures Sim-Funded 50K (Growth / Pro) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reward ratio | 80% by default; 90% once the Scaling Plan or Premium Programme conditions are met | 90% | 90% | 90/10 on both; FTMO's example: request $2,000, receive $1,800 |
| Account sizes | $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000, $200,000 | $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000, $200,000 | $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 | 50K, 100K, 150K (this column shows 50K) |
| First payout eligible | 14th day or later after the first trade on that account; all positions and pending orders closed | Same 14-day rule as 2-Step | Same 14-day rule; FTMO Identity (KYC) is completed at the first Reward request and processing waits for its approval | Once the payout cycle has 4 Qualifying Days of $150+ closed P&L (Growth) or 5 days of $200+ (Pro), reviewed at end of day |
| Payout frequency | No fixed cycle stated; a new FTMO Account is provided after each Reward, and the 14-day count runs from the first trade on that account | As 2-Step | As 2-Step | Every 4 days (Growth) / every 5 days (Pro), per FTMO's comparison table |
| Withdrawable share of profit | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated, but the Max Loss Limit does not reset, so a withdrawal that drops balance below it is a breach (see below) | Up to 50% of profit above initial capital (Growth) / up to 100% (Pro) |
| Cap per request | None stated | None stated | None stated | $2,500 (Growth) / $5,000 (Pro) |
| Minimum payout | $20 closed profit for bank wire and Visa Direct / Mastercard Send; $50 for crypto | $20 / $50 as 2-Step | $20 / $50 as 2-Step | $20, paid in USD |
| New profit requirement | None stated | None stated | None stated | At least 50% of the requested amount must be new profit from the current cycle (both) |
| Consistency at payout | None | 50%: Best Day at most 50% of total profit (orders from 12 Oct 2026); legacy Best Day Rule uses 50% of Positive Days' Profit | 30%: Best Day at most 30% of total profit; total profit restarts from zero after each Reward | None on Sim-Funded (Evaluation only: 40% Growth, 50% Pro) |
| Max loss and withdrawals | Static: the limit stays at 90% of initial capital (10% Max Loss); no trailing | EOD trailing 10%; fully resets to 90% of initial capital when a Reward is withdrawn and a new FTMO Account is provided | Intraday balance-based trailing 10%; does not reset on Reward withdrawal, so once balance exceeds 110% of initial capital a withdrawal would breach it | EOD trailing $2,000 (Growth) / $3,000 (Pro); locks at initial capital for the life of the account; FTMO warns a full withdrawal on Pro can violate it |
| Daily loss limit | 5% of initial capital | 3% of initial capital | 3% of initial capital | Growth $1,000 soft (positions closed, trading paused for the day); Pro $1,000 hard (account terminated) |
| Fee refund | 100% of the purchase fee, refunded when you request your first Reward withdrawal, via the same payment method | Not refundable | Not refundable | No fee to refund: the monthly subscription is cancelled when the Evaluation is passed; no activation fee |
| Reward rollover | Yes; standard ratio applied before rollover, rolled-over Reward withdrawn later at 100%; minimum $20, €20, £20, 20 AUD, 20 CAD, 20 CHF or 500 CZK | Not supported | Not supported | Not mentioned; unrequested profit stays in the account and can be included in a later request |
| Scaling and Premium | Scaling Plan (+25% size every 4 months, up to $2,000,000) and Premium Programme both available; Prime lifts the ratio to 90% | Both available; ratio already 90%; no rollover bonus | Not eligible for either | Scaling Plan raises Max Contracts only (50K: 2 at start, up to 5 at $2,000 EOD profit, can fall back); no Premium Programme stated |
| Payout methods | Bank wire, Visa Direct / Mastercard Send (up to $20,000), Skrill (up to $3,000), cryptocurrencies; no FTMO commission | As 2-Step | As 2-Step | Wise, Revolut bank wire, Visa Direct, Mastercard Send (not for US clients); US clients file a W-9 and proof of bank ownership before the first payout |
| Processing | Account review notified within 1-2 business days; Reward typically sent 1-2 business days after the invoice is approved | As 2-Step | As 2-Step | Requested amount is deducted from the balance at once and trading can resume; after approval you confirm the invoice in the Client Area |
| Live stage | None stated; FTMO says all trading on its CFD accounts is simulated | None stated | None stated | Live Funded by invitation only; one-time buffer, then daily payouts with no cap at 90/10 |
Reward ratio by product and how 2-Step gets to 90%
FTMO's withdrawal FAQ sets the Reward Ratio by product. An FTMO Account initiated from the 1-Step FTMO Challenge and the FTMO Instant Account pay 90% of the simulated profit. An FTMO Account from the 2-Step FTMO Challenge pays 80% by default, rising to 90% once the Scaling Plan or Premium Programme conditions are met, which is why the comparison table lists 2-Step as 'Up to 90%'. FTMO Futures runs a 90/10 Payout Ratio on both Growth and Pro Sim-Funded Accounts: FTMO's example is a $2,000 request paying $1,800 after the cap and other payout conditions are applied. The Swing account type, available only on 2-Step, changes leverage from 1:100 to 1:30 and lifts news and holding restrictions.
When you can request a Reward on a CFD account
You claim a Reward in the Account MetriX on the 14th or any following day after the first trade is placed on the specific account, with all open positions and pending orders closed. FTMO then reviews the account and notifies you within 1-2 business days; once approved you submit the withdrawal details in the FTMO Traders section and the Reward is typically sent 1-2 business days after the invoice is approved. FTMO's Swing FAQ says a new account is provided after each phase and after each Reward withdrawal, so in practice each new account's 14-day count starts from its first trade; FTMO does not describe a fixed payout cycle. On the Instant Account your results count toward the Reward from day one, you complete FTMO Identity (KYC) when you request the first Reward, processing waits for that approval, and you become an FTMO Trader once the first Reward is approved. For comparison, 1-Step can be passed in as few as 2 trading days and 2-Step needs at least 4 trading days in each phase, with reviews of 1-2 business days after the FTMO Challenge and 1-4 business days after Verification or the 1-Step phase. Methods are bank wire, Visa Direct or Mastercard Send up to $20,000, Skrill up to $3,000 and cryptocurrencies, with no FTMO commission; the minimum closed profit is $20 for bank wire and card transfers and $50 for crypto.
Consistency and Max Loss traps when withdrawing
2-Step has no Consistency rule. On 1-Step accounts initiated from orders created on or after 12 Oct 2026, the Consistency rule requires your Best Day to be no more than 50% of total profit, where total profit is the cumulative sum of closed profits and losses across all days; accounts from earlier orders keep the legacy Best Day Rule, 50% of Positive Days' Profit, and the 1-Step product page still labels the objective 'Best Day Rule 50%'. The Instant Account uses 30% of total profit, and total profit restarts from zero after each Reward withdrawal, so Consistency is measured only on the new account. Exceeding the limit is not a breach; you keep trading until the ratio is met. FTMO's example: Day 1 $6,000, Day 2 a $2,000 loss, Day 3 $4,000, Day 4 $2,000 gives $10,000 total with a 60% Best Day, so total profit must reach at least $12,000 on 1-Step or $20,000 on Instant if Day 1 stays the best day. Max Loss matters too. 2-Step is static at 10% of initial capital. 1-Step is an end-of-day trailing 10% limit that fully resets to 90% of initial capital when a Reward is withdrawn and a new FTMO Account is provided. Instant is an intraday, balance-based trailing 10% limit that does not reset on withdrawal: once your balance exceeds 110% of initial capital, a Reward withdrawal would breach the limit, and FTMO says it is your responsibility to avoid that. Maximum Daily Loss is 5% on 2-Step and 3% on 1-Step and Instant.
Refund, rollover and FTMO Points
Only the 2-Step purchase fee is refundable: FTMO refunds 100% of it when you request your first Reward withdrawal, using the same payment method you paid with. The 1-Step and Instant fees are not refundable. Rollover is also 2-Step only. The standard Reward Ratio is applied before the rollover, and when you later withdraw the rolled-over Reward the ratio is 100% so it is not reduced twice; the minimum rollover is €20, $20, £20, 20 AUD, 20 CAD, 20 CHF or 500 CZK. FTMO's Prime benefits FAQ states that rollovers are not supported on 1-Step or Instant accounts. On any product you can take all or part of a Reward as FTMO Points during processing; one Point equals 1 EUR, Points can only buy products or services from FTMO or its affiliates and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Scaling Plan and Premium Programme
The Scaling Plan applies to FTMO Accounts obtained through the 1-Step or 2-Step FTMO Challenge, not the Instant Account. You need at least 4 months as an FTMO Trader, or since the last scale-up, under the same order; at least 10% net simulated profit above the starting balance within the prior 4 months; at least 2 processed Rewards in that period; and a positive balance at scale-up. The account grows 25% every 4 months up to $2,000,000 across all your FTMO Accounts, and the 90% share is listed as valid for 2-Step only. The Premium Programme is separate and can run alongside it. Prime requires no failed FTMO Account in the last 4 months and at least 4 Reward cycles on accounts from the same order, each with profit of at least 4% of initial capital, assessed before the ratio is applied. Prime moves a 2-Step account from 80% to 90%, adds a 5% rollover bonus on the next 2-Step account withdrawable after 30 calendar days, raises the capital allocation to $600,000, grants a free FTMO Challenge in FTMO Points and a 10% discount; 1-Step traders already have 90% and get no rollover bonus. Supreme needs an active $400K Prime account with 3 further Reward cycles of at least 4% each (the Premium page also lists 3 months as a Prime Trader), and adds no Maximum Daily Loss, immediate reward withdrawals and a $1,000,000 allocation. The Instant Account is not eligible for either programme.
FTMO Futures Sim-Funded payouts: Growth vs Pro by size
A payout cycle needs Qualifying Days with closed P&L above a threshold, reviewed at end of day: Growth 4 days at $150 (50K), $250 (100K) or $300 (150K); Pro 5 days at $200, $300 or $500. FTMO summarises this as a payout every 4 days on Growth and every 5 on Pro. Growth lets you request up to 50% of profit above initial capital per cycle, Pro up to 100%, and the per-request cap is $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000 on Growth and $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000 on Pro. At least 50% of any request must be new profit from the current cycle: FTMO's example is $2,000 carried over plus $400 new, so the maximum request is $800. The minimum is $20 and the 90/10 ratio applies to the requested amount. Unrequested profit stays in the account and can be included later. The EOD trailing Max Drawdown ($2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000 on Growth, $3,000 / $4,500 / $6,000 on Pro) locks at the initial capital for the life of the account, and FTMO's FAQ warns that requesting a full withdrawal on a Pro Sim-Funded Account can violate it, so check the payout calculator before taking 100%. Daily loss on Sim-Funded is soft on Growth ($1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000, trading pauses for the day) and hard on Pro ($1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000, account terminated). There is no Consistency rule on Sim-Funded; it applies only in the Evaluation at 40% on Growth and 50% on Pro. You may hold up to 3 Sim-Funded Accounts, and Max Contracts scale with EOD profit milestones, for example 50K from 2 contracts to 5 at $2,000 profit, falling back if the balance drops. The subscription is cancelled when you pass, so neither the Sim-Funded nor the Live Funded Account carries a subscription charge.
Futures payout methods, US paperwork and Live Funded
Confirming a request in the Client Area closes all open positions and pending orders, a calculator shows the available payout, the requested amount is deducted from the Sim-Funded balance immediately and you can resume trading while FTMO approves it; you then confirm the payout invoice. Payouts are in USD via Wise, Revolut bank wire, Visa Direct or Mastercard Send, with Mastercard Send unavailable to US clients. US-based clients must submit IRS Form W-9 before the first request and prove ownership of the receiving US bank account. After passing the Evaluation, review takes 1-3 business days, then FTMO Identity and the Sim-Funded Terms must be approved before the account is created. The Live Funded Account is not something you apply for: FTMO's Trading Department invites selected traders at its discretion, and residents of countries on FTMO's restricted list are not offered it, though the Trading Department may contact eligible traders there about other options; Sim-Funded payouts stay available to them. On Live Funded you clear a one-time buffer before the first payout, then can request a payout daily with no payout cap, the ratio stays 90/10, and a market data fee applies with one exchange covered by FTMO.
