Topstep vs FTMO Futures: 50K evaluation risk rules compared
The short answer
On a 50K account, Topstep's Trading Combine has a $2,000 trailing Maximum Loss Limit. FTMO Futures' 50K Growth plan has a $2,000 end-of-day trailing max drawdown and no daily loss limit; the 50K Pro plan adds a $1,000 hard daily loss limit. Both FTMO plans require a $3,000 profit target.
Side-by-side
| Rule | Topstep 50K Trading Combine | FTMO Futures 50K Growth | FTMO Futures 50K Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Max loss / drawdown | $2,000 trailing (EOD, locks at start balance) | $2,000 EOD trailing | see FTMO comparison table |
| Daily loss limit | not part of the MLL rule (see Topstep help) | None in Evaluation | $1,000 hard |
| Profit target | see Topstep site | $3,000 | $3,000 |
| Consistency | see Topstep site | best day ≤ 40% | best day ≤ 50% |
Key difference
Topstep monitors the MLL in real time on unrealized P&L and liquidates immediately on a touch. FTMO's Pro plan fails the Evaluation if the hard daily limit is hit, while Growth relies on the trailing drawdown only.
