Daily loss limit vs max loss limit: one ends your day, the other ends your account
The short answer
Topstep says over 63% of traders have lost an account in a single day.
Key figures (as reported)
- Daily loss limit $1,000: hit it and your day ends.
- Max loss limit $2,000: hit it and your account ends.
- Topstep's Daily Loss Limit is optional in the Combine and Express Funded Account: $1,000 on 50K, $2,000 on 100K, $3,000 on 150K.
- Net P&L hits it: positions flattened, orders canceled, back at 6 PM ET.
- Not a rule violation. Still eligible for funding.
- The Maximum Loss Limit is the one that ends it: $2,000 on a Topstep 50K, checked in real time, open losses included.
- Hit it in the Combine: no funding until you Reset.
- Hit it in the Express Funded Account: permanently closed.
- No adjustments, no exceptions.
- Same numbers on a 50K eval at Top One Futures (Elite Daily V2) and Blue Guardian (Standard): $1,000 daily limit, $2,000 max loss. Hit the daily one: paused until the next trading day.
- The math: 2 full daily-limit days in a row from the start use the whole $2,000.
